Wimbledon Foundation animation

This Summer we have been busy working on some very exciting projects. It was fantastic to be a part of Wimbledon this year and see our film go live on the big screens. When most of us think Wimbledon we think of strawberries and cream, Murray Mound, (or is it still Henman Hill??) green grass courts and indeed lots of noisy players hitting fluffy balls to one another amid a chorus of “ooh!”s and “ahh!”s. This Summer however, we donned our Wimbledon whites for something a bit different – producing a motion graphics animation for The All England Lawn Tennis Club’s fantastic charity, the Wimbledon Foundation.

The Wimbledon Foundation benefits people both locally and overseas, using the heritage and resources of Wimbledon to help change people’s lives. The charity needed a way of getting across its key aims in an easy to digest, highly visual way so called upon the A+C team to produce an attention grabbing animation for them. Our animators quickly set about scripting and scribbling colourful imagery to get across the important work the Foundation provides.

We like producing animations which abide to a theme or set of rules for our clients. We do this not only because is it visually appealing, but because it makes the action easier to digest and is more memorable. All sequences within the Wimbledon Foundation animation take place within a rectangle onscreen – representative of a tennis court.

AELTC Graphic Design Lead, Ikem Ononiwu said,

“The Championships in the summer is synonymous with the Wimbledon brand, however we were keen to showcase the great year-round work that the Wimbledon Foundation does both in the local community and internationally. We called upon A+C to help us produce content explaining how tennis is used as a force for good in an engaging, personable way, and they helped us deliver this under challenging timescales. Showcased at The Championships on our big screens, the feedback was very positive.”

If you attended The Championships, you may have seen the film on the big screen there – but fear not, we’ve also included it below. We’re nice like that!
